Forming Fabrics
In the forming section of a paper machine, a mixture of approximately 99% water and 1% cellulose fibers and fillers is uniformly fed across the entire width of the forming fabric. In this process, the forming fabric acts both as a conveyor belt and as a dewatering machine. As the fabric moves rapidly, more than 96% of the water is drained away through special gaps in the fabric, while the fibers and fillers remain in the fabric.
